On 9 June, the first three Green Award certificates for inland shipping were issued.

The certificates were handed over by Mr. Mark Dierikx, Director General Aviation and Maritime Affairs at the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment. He said: ”Sustainable entrepreneurship pays, it is not a luxury but acting in a responsible way towards the future.”

The first three ships that were awarded are motor tanker Synthese 15, push barge Veerhaven XI (IJsbeer) and motor ship Anda.

On 1 July more certificates were handed over to a mix of ship types: from push barges, crane barges and well barges to container barges and the largest inland oil tanker in the world.

The certification scheme for inland shipping has been launched this year and currently we have conducted 22 inspections. About 15 applications are in process.
